The Personal Safety Training Group
Larry Kaminer: Founder & Safety Trainer
Larry was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa during the turbulence of Apartheid. He has traveled extensively in Southern Africa to include visits to and dealing with multiple situations in high risk destinations. Larry became a lifetime student of personal safety and crime avoidance after surviving several assaults and attempted assaults. His sense of situational awareness and personal security were heightened after an attempted home invasion and as witness to political unrest and rioting during the 1976 Soweto uprisings. Despite training in martial arts and instruction in defensive firearms use, Larry carries forward a strong belief that awareness and avoidance must always be the first and primary line of defense. He was also a Qualified Medical Examiner, State of California, Worker’s Compensation Division. Larry’s life experiences allow him to bring a real world civilian perspective to the issue of personal safety and he founded the Personal Safety Training Group in 2006.
TheDVU
Protecting Victims, Changing Abusers
TheDVU Educates counselors, social workers, therapists, and interested persons about domestic abuse
dynamics so that proper assessments and interventions are designed.
After several years of leading intervention groups for court
mandated male misdemeanor offenders, Carl Mangold began to offer seminars for
his colleagues and other providers. In 2009 when Stephanie Angelo contacted Carl about abuser dynamics
a conversation was begun which led to her suggestion that together we
produce DV webinars.
The catalog of courses will expand over time & other experienced
presenters will be recruited. Please check back often for new webinars.
